Chapter 2
Just the Laughter in the Air

   Fregata kept running, hoping to catch up with Arima. Finally, she came out of the forest, but only to see that Arima hasn’t shown up yet. “Hm, where is she? Did she ran somewhere else farther than this point?”, Fregata said to herself, “Okay Arima, you can come out now. I lost… if you’re anywhere nearby”. She looked around and heard no response. All of a sudden, she heard a faint sound from a distance. She immediately recognized it, it was laughter, “Arima?”, Fregata said. She walked near the jungle and it became a little louder, now knowing that she’s still in the forest nearby, “Arima!”. Fregata runs back to the forest and tries to follow Arima’s laughter.

   Eventually, she managed to reach where Arima was, seeing Chlam climbing up a tree and start sleeping on the branch. Fregata ran toward Arima, “Arima! Are you okay?”. She leaned over to see her face, seeing her exhausted.

  “Fregata? Congrats… you won the race”, Arima said, breathing slowly. Fregata grabbed her hand and helped her stand up to her bare feet, “Heh, thanks. You didn’t need to do that”, Arima said, still exhausted. Arima took a deep breath and slightly shook her head, “I was kinda clumsy during that race. Didn’t expect to see that lizard on my way”.

  “Nah, maybe I should apologize for having this race. At least the lizard didn’t do anything completely bad to you, like eating you”, Fregata joked.

  “Heh, I guess that’s kinda funny in a way”, said Arima, “Okay, we should go back to your home, if you want. It is getting dark now”. Fregata nodded and the two decided to walk together.

  While the two are walking as the sun sets, Fregata has been wondering about something from not too long ago. “Hey, Arima”, Fregata said, catching Arima’s attention, “I’ve been wondering. I heard you laughing, and I didn’t get to see what exactly was happening over there. What did exactly happened?”.

   Arima looked away with a surprised look. She was perplexed by why Fregata asked. Some people in this part of Paraphillia sometimes talk about how ticklish Arima’s feet are, so Arima could’ve at least expected Fregata to know already, even if she might not like it if her friend knew. Even then, she decided to not let her know, at least for now, “Oh you know”.

  Fregata was confused by Arima’s statement, “Know what?”.

  “It was that joke you told me that other day, remember?”, said Arima, trying to hide the truth as possible, “It’s that one about… um… that bird we saw last week. The way it keeps hopping away from that other bird. It’s like it’s trying to stay away, then you captioned it ‘Honey, please go away’”.

  Fregata did remember making that joke that time ago, but was confused after remembering it further, “Uh, you never find that funny. You just smiled for a bit. Did you really look back and thought it was that extremely funny? There isn’t any other intended detail of what makes it funnier”.

  “Well… Oh, we should run to your house, the night sky is starting to appear- Come on let’s go”, Arima said hastily as she starts running. As she’s running, Fregata looked at her at a distance suspiciously, wondering why Arima acted all up scared-like after she asked that question to her. After thinking, she knows what’s up and thinks to herself that’s why Arima is acting “strangely”. Realizing that Arima is far away now, she starts to run to catch her up, wanting to find out what she concluded about Arima.
