Pokemon XY Gang = Mario Gang

Yep:

Ash/Mario: Red hat hero with many partners, always on the job when his arch nemesis are on the scene (Team Rocket/Bowser), and has been in many journeys befriending many people and solving the problems that are in their way for a long run

Clemont/Luigi: The younger brother (younger brother figure in Clemont's case), clumsier than the hero but still has the spirit to help out, who lacked confidence in the start and as the series progressed, begins regaining some of that confidence

Serena/Peach: Not only that the hero's love interest and back (most canon shipping), they were negatively viewed as almost useless near their debuts and viewed to only fulfill one role (Serena: Ash's lover/Peach: Damsel in Distress. And people tend to poke at that), but when the series progressed, people begin actually viewing them better (though people might still dislike them because of how late they begin becoming "competent", let along not showing it too much)


Bonnie/Toad: The youngest member who assists the gang in other ways like some suggestions, and... well
