Chapter 0-2

Ruby stopped running and looked back if Kamek is not in plain sight. Ruby shook her head, "I have to find the Crescent Rose. I don't know where I am, but it seems just as dangerous as Remnant... and stranger. It has to be here somewhere... Oh! That town Kamek mentioned. I have to get there! He did say it's up north from the fortress."

Ruby ran fast to where the town is supposedly there. As she ran, she gets to see more of this place; floating brick blocks and ? mark blocks, big spiky chesnuts on trees, and even some of the hills have eyes. She quickly steered her focus on getting to the town first. After a few seconds, Ruby saw a distant, colorful town. She looked back and saw the tip of the far fortress, "This must be it."


As Ruby arrived, she looked around the town a bit; it's an average town with a few basic colored roofs. Still focusing on her goal, she saw the citizens she has to warn about the upcoming attack Kamek planned. However, when Kamek mentioned the citizens, they're not what she expected to look like...


Cue: 


The citizens look like midgets with various colored mushroom hats on their heads, and lack any legs; Toads. They also look almost identical with each other. Ruby gives out a weirded out face, As if this place couldn't get any stranger...

"Hey!" A raspy voice said behind, surprising Ruby. She turned around, and it's one of the Toads; a blue one. He walked towards her, smiling, "Hey, you must be new here! I never seen anyone that look like you! Welcome to Toad Town!"

Ruby stranged out look began to slowly disappear, as while it still remained from seeing something like a Toad, she's already getting the (correct) feeling that these guys are pretty friendly. With that in mind, she almost forgot that Kamek mentioning them as very harmless citizens, "Oh! Um, thanks for the welcome. But, I needed to warn you and others something! You see, there's this guy named Kamek and-" 

Cue stops

"All right, nobody move!" A gruff voice is heard from a distance. Ruby and Toad turned to the exit and saw two mushroom-like creatures; Goombas. "Kamek sent us here to run this place down!" The first Goomba said, "Oh yeah! The great Kamek!"

While the Toad is shocked, Ruby has her expectations down, "So... you must be the Goombas that Kamek mentioned. I don't want to sound mean to the mushroom boy, but these guys look just as harmless as his people."

"Hey...! Okay, that's kind of true," the Toad said.

"'Look harmless'!" The first Goomba quoted, "Put some emphasis on the word 'look'! Looks can be deceiving, you know."

"Yeah, what he said!" The second one said.

"In face, we got something special for ya!" Goomba 1 gloats as he pulls out a red, compressed object.

Ruby immediately recognized it, "The Crescent Rose!"

"Huh? You know this thing?" Goomba 1 says.

"Yes! That's my weapon!" Ruby yelled.

"Ha! Knew it was a weapon!" Goomba 2 said, "C'mon, let it rip!"

"All right...! How do we activate it?" Goomba 1 asked.

"Huh, I have no idea," Goomba 2 said, examining it.

As the two Goombas ended up discussing how to operate the Crescent Rose, Ruby was rather dumbfounded to see that these two are even less threatening. Ruby simply approached to them, "Um... I can help you with that."

The Goombas stopped their discussion and looked at each other. They nodded and smiled. "Sure, we do need some help on this," Goomba 2 said.

"Eh..." Ruby said, shocked that these two are that gullible. The Goombas handed the Crescent Rose to her. Ruby then holds it up in the air, and then the Crescent Rose transformed into its Scythe form.

The Goombas are pleased by this help, "Ah, thanks. Now, we got to get back to our mission. So, give us the weapon, plea-" Goomba 1 suddenly gets interrupted from seeing Ruby in her fighting stance, having her scythe pointing towards the two. 

"Woah, awesome!" Toad commented in awe.

"Uh..." The Goombas simply stood there, staring at Ruby and her weapon. They looked at each to see if one another thought of a plan. To their dismay, none of them did. Out of cowardice, the Goombas simply ran out of the town.


Cue: 


Ruby sheathes her scythe and took a deep breath in relief that she found her weapon, "Can't believe that's the threat. But, glad that's over fast."

"Hey..." Toad said, catching Ruby's attention and is still amazed by such a weapon, "Wh-where are you from?"

Minutes later, Ruby explained everything she told to the Toad which she explained to Kamek earlier...

"Woah, so you don't remember, huh?" Toad asked. Ruby nodded. "Man, too bad nobody else noticed this earlier. They must be that busy to notice. You're awesome!" Toad commented.

"Thanks...!" Ruby smiled, but then it faded to a worried look, "Still, I want to get back to Remnant. My friends and sister must be really worried about me, and especially my sister. I don't even know how I got here in the first place, so the fact I just mysteriously vanished from there to here doesn't help, either. I'm worried about what's going on with them, too..." 


Cue stops


Just then, a big block fell between the toad and Ruby, and both managed to avoid it. The loud thump is made as it landed on the ground caught the other citizen's attention. Ruby looked up and saw a familiar figure; it's Kamek. Ruby then unsheathes her scythe, glaring at Kamek.

"I knew we'd see each other again. Those Goombas were pathetic. They acted just like you when I met you earlier," Kamek commented, "And it seems you do have a weapon then." Ruby looked at him, already prepared and doing her fighting stance. Kamek then pointed his wand at her, "All right! You show your potential, I'll show you mine! Let's continue where we left off, shall we!?"
