Chapter 5
A Closed Road and a Murder

  The next morning, Aero woke up, seeing Nemea sleeping peacefully. When he got up, he saw Vernon leaving. “Morning Vern”, Aero said, “Going to work, huh?”. “Yep”, Vernon replied, “I do this job for four days a week along with 5 hours a day. It’s a good thing to since I can show you more of Neon Metallon”. Just before Vernon leaves, he said one more thing to Aero, “By the way, there’s this place I really wanted to show you. Sadly, the road is close”, said Vernon disappointed, “It’s been brought in the news for like 2 weeks. You should see the news channel if they bring that up again. Well, see ya”. Vernon finally left to his police workplace, leaving Aero and Nemea once again by themselves. Taking Vernon’s advice, Aero turned on the TV and went to the news channel. “-Of the bridge not functioning and that it’s unable to be lowered for drivers. Though, it has been reported that it’ll be fixed for a few days and will give the drivers access to the Bevelruma area”, the news reporter said. Aero managed to get an aerial view of the place, but groaned for not seeing the whole news report, expecting to see the views of the area and the cause of the bridge’s problem.

 “In other news, at the Tranova area, a murder has been committed once again”, the words caught Aero’s attention, remembering the blood he saw on Nemea’s shirt, assuming her as a murderer. This leads to the thought that Nemea has yet again committed another murder. But he doesn’t know her reason this time, either it’s in mean for revenge on the people who picked on her or some other personal reason. As he wonders, he tries to focus on the news. “Though, it doesn’t seem like a regular murder”, the reporter said as footage of 3 recently killed people are shown, in which Aero saw in horror, “It doesn’t seem like to be committed by a human being at all. It seemed like some wild animal has devoured and mutilated them, hinted by the bodies torn apart, along with slashes and teeth marks left on the bodies. According to some investigators, it may be a wild animal as these three people happen to be the strongest criminals around this area, notably for not getting knives through their bodies. No other weapon tears them to shreds like this. It’s a horrifying sight, as there was no wild animal roaming around recently-“. Aero slowly turned off the TV, leaving him speechless from what he saw. “Nemea can’t possibly do that”, Aero said in his thoughts, “I mean, she doesn’t even look that powerful. If it’s hinted that no weapon is used… Nemea might’ve used her bare hands. No… impossible. It had to be some animal. But why did she have blood on her shirt? Did she just wandered off somewhere then went to be near the creature’s killing two days ago? But why didn’t that creature kill her?”. Aero then shook his head, “I probably stop questioning myself”.

 Later, Nemea woke up, seeing Aero eating cereal for breakfast. Nemea approached him, sitting next to him. “Hi Aero, so… did you sleep well last night?”, asked Nemea. “I did. Did you?”, Aero asked. “Yes”, Nemea quickly replied. Aero was surprised by her fast reply, getting the feeling that she does go out at the middle of the night, “Good for you Nemea. Well, we’re all alone again, this time Vernon went to work. Now what should we do?...”. Aero still had the thought of the news he saw about the murdered victims. Aero just continued to eat, “So, remember that Wave Slasher thingy that Vernon mentioned yesterday?”, asked Nemea, “If you do, it happened to be Vernon’s. That thing happened to be known as the ‘Lernaean Dragon’, which I overheard him talking to you about. We should bring it back to Vernon. Should we go get it?”. Aero still wonders if Nemea did it, wondering if she actually did killed the victims to retrieve what was stolen. Aero agreed anyway, as the two then leave to the same alley that they both found it.

  While at the alley, the police, including Vernon, are investigating the scene. One of the cops found his Wave Slasher, “Hey Vernon, isn’t that the Wave Slasher you’ve liked to talk about most of the time”. This caught Vernon’s attention, who then approached to it, uncovered from the metal scraps by Nemea yesterday. Vernon felt excited seeing it again, “I can’t believe! I thought this thing was stolen, but it was actually here! That Mack Mezzur stole it…”. He then thought of an idea to benefit the investigation, “Speaking of that guy, maybe we should talk to him. He might’ve been around when that happened, so he probably might know what exactly happened here”. “Hm, makes sense. Maybe he also does have something with those poor fellas. Come on, let’s find that guy and see what he saw”, said the Chief. As Vernon and the police group left to find Mack, Aero and Nemea arrived, seeing the Wave Slasher. To their dismay, the area has been blocked for police investigation. “Well, the police have arrived. Maybe Vernon might’ve known already”, said Aero, “Come on Nemea, let’s go back to the apartment”. As Aero walked away, Nemea looked back at the Wave Slasher. Before she turned around, she saw something else, a woman from a distance at the opposite alley. They both stared at each other, but Aero caught her attention, “Come on Nemea!”. Nemea stopped and started following him, with the woman hiding in the alley, “Why the heck are you outside of out hideout? You’re not allowed to be out here in public. Gotta find a way to get you back here”, whispered the woman.
